Ashlee Hughes

Performing Artist, Designer, Workshop Facilitator

Ashlee has been working and playing at Polyglot Theatre as a maker and artist on Paper Planet, First On The Ladder and Paper and Tape workshops. She is a graduate of Victorian College of the Arts Production course, with a focus on design and making spaces.

Ashlee has most recently been working on sustainable, site specific works in collaboration with local communities. This focus began with installations as a part of Scenes on the Yarra, a project that connects people with their local waterways through performance. She has worked on design and management aspects on The Living Stage, a recycled, growing stage space, at Federation Square, Armidale, Lorne Sculpture Biennale and Melbourne University. Along with various workshops in schools creating art that connects to landscape and place, Ashlee is also a kindergarten educator and Bush kinder facilitator. She is passionate about child-led practice, children as art makers, storytellers and the connections between children, community and place.
