David Pidd

Performing Artist, Workshop Facilitator

David’s career spans over thirty years, performing with theatre companies and as an independent artist in theatres and festivals across Australia and internationally. He is a graduate of The VCA.

He appeared in Laurence Strangio’s adaptation of Pirandello’s Six Characters in Search of an Author (Green Room Award Best Ensemble); Muckheap in Auslan for Polyglot Puppet Theatre and The Songs of Changi at Melbourne Recital Centre.

During the nineties, with Zootango Theatre Company, he played Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Orlando in As You Like It, Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing, and Wag in A Bright and Crimson Flower. In 2003 David began an association with Patch Theatre Company performing in Aesops Fables, Each Beach, Who Sank The Boat, Pigs Bears and Billy Goats Gruff and co-devising and performing in the award winning Mr. McGee and the Biting Flea, touring locally, nationally and internationally.

Work as Writer/Performer includes Rawsharking, and Parallax Island both of which toured nationally and were adapted for ABC Radio Drama, and Dooda for the 2009 Comedy Festival and Adelaide Fringe. He has also performed with Arena Theatre Company, Salamanca Theatre Company, Back To Back, Melbourne Theatre Company, Vitalstatistix Theatre Company, Zeal Theatre, Hot House Theatre, Melbourne Mask Theatre, Theatre Works, La Mama Theatre and Shaken and Suspicious.

In 1992, David co-founded Dramatic Edge, and is now Co-Director and Consultant with The Jump Company, using Theatre Practice in Conferences and Seminars for the Corporate and, Local, State and Commonwealth Government Sectors.
