Katrina Gaskell

Workshop Facilitator, Designer

Trina brings a creative energy to all her work, be it as a workshop artist with children, making large-scale parade and installation pieces, or working in theatre as a puppetry artist. Having learned from the Handspan Theatre artists more than two decades ago, Trina has designed and built puppets for companies such as Polyglot Theatre, Ilbijerri Theatre, Melbourne Workers’ Theatre, Snuff Puppets and Moomba Festival.

Trina’s recent work as a designer, maker and workshop artist for school and community-based projects includes The Big Bandicoot at Cranbourne Botanic Gardens, Berendale School Project with Rawcus Theatre, and Polyglot’s Wild Heads for Wyndham City’s Children’s Week Picnic. 2021 projects have included Polyglot’s LINK, and puppet making for students at Concord School and David Woods’ THIS for Rising Festival.

Trina is a co-founder of Bonkel Theatre, which creates new puppetry work, together with musician Enio Pozzebon. During the pandemic, the company has created work for The Victorian Seniors Festival, Moreland Libraries, Melbourne Digital Fringe 2020, and Melbourne Festival of Puppetry 2021. Trina is currently designing and making puppets for the company’s new work for Melbourne Fringe 2021.
