Performing Artist, Workshop Facilitator
Tirese is a performer and teaching artist in theatre, community cultural development and education; and received a Bachelor of Education in drama, design and media from Victoria College Rusden. Tirese first started working with Polyglot in 1997 repairing puppets and props. Since then she has performed and toured nationally and internationally in the following productions: Ants, We Built This City, Sticky Maze, Paper Planet, Tangle, Forest Feast, Boats, Bell Bird, Sound of Drawing, Wild Things: Outback, Emu’s, Granny and the Sea Monster, The Mighty How, Hissy Fit, Lily Lasseter and The Floating Zoo. Tirese held the position of Art Link Coordinator from 2006-2008 and provided coordination assistance to the Artistic Director on Polyglot’s projects with schools. Over the years she has worked with fellow Polyglot artists running workshops for children and facilitating professional development for adults; and has led training for performing artists in Polyglots ‘Ants’ work.
As an actor Tirese has toured nationally and internationally with The Arts Centre Melbourne, Murray River Performing Group, Arena Theatre Company and Back To Back Theatre. She has worked extensively in independent theatre with groups such as: The Hunting Party, Snuff Puppets, Chasing Spaces; and continues to work with Born in a Taxi and Kinetic Theatre. For fifteen years she worked in role-play with medical students and professionals for The University of Melbourne, The Royal Australian College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, Monash University-Monash Medical Centre and for St Vincent’s Hospital. Other projects include educational performance works for WorkSafe on workplace bullying and for the Arts Centre Melbourne with young people on alcohol consumption and peer relationships.
