Sophie is an award-winning writer, cultural producer and operations coordinator for the arts. She has worked in a range of roles supporting the administration, logistics and marketing of arts events and programming at organisations such as Queensland Writers Centre, National Young Writers Festival and Brisbane Writers Festival. She’s passionate about connecting audiences with artists and supporting the delivery of creative, high quality and diverse creative artistic experiences for audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
As a writer, she has worked extensively in both corporate and creative spaces, the former of which includes government document writing, freelance copywriting and journalism. Creatively, her fiction has been published in Griffith Review, Going Down Swinging, Overland Online, The Sleepers Almanac, and elsewhere. She won the 2018 AAWP Short Story Prize, and her work has been shortlisted for many major Australian writing prizes including The Text Prize and The Richell Prize.
She is also one half of Lady Parts, a podcast about women’s roles in genre cinema, and is creator and producer of The Oscars Project, where she explores cinema history through 90 years of Academy Award nominees.
