A Primary School in Richmond

Richmond, Victoria, 1978

Polyglot aimed to develop in children an understanding of various ethnic groups and an appreciation of our multicultural environment

Polyglot’s first show ‘The Good Friend” was the story of a little Star that received a gift from each of seven cultures to make him complete. Each culture presented a folk story both in it’s own language and in English. The stories were a combination of traditional and modern aspects of the cultures : Turkish, Spanish, Greek, Italian, Arabic and Serbo-Croation and Australian.

After the show in Richmond a fight broke out in the playground between a Greek and an Italian student.

They were fighting about who had the best story.
